Leonardo: Tornado 50 Years 1st Flight Anniversary special painting

ROME. The GE Luftwaffe published today in their social media channels (X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) pictures and some short info about the special painted 50 years 1st flight Tornado.

The Anniversary Tornado will be officially shown at this year’s International Aerospace Exhibition (ILA) in Berlin (5 – 9. June 2024).

In September, the aircraft will return to Manching to be presented at the 50th Anniversary celebration of the maiden flight.

The year 2024 is a very special for Panavia and for the Tornado Aircraft: 50 years ago, on 14 August 1974, the first Tornado prototype with its iconic red-white colour scheme took off from Manching (Germany).

To honor this event, the GE Air Force has realised (with the support of Panavia Aircraft GmbH and Airbus Deference & Space in Manching) a special colour scheme that actually sums up the liveries the Tornados have worn since the first flight of the prototype.
